HyBuild Los Angeles™, an initiative of the GHC, has created a vision for a low-cost, mass-scale green hydrogen ecosystem that achieves deep decarbonization, eliminates pollution, creates economic opportunity, and advances a just energy transition.
The GHC is pleased to announce the release of HyBuild Los Angeles Phase 2 Report: Architecting the Green Hydrogen Ecosystem Vision For a Deeply Decarbonized LA, and extends its deepest gratitude to all HyBuild LA platform participants, whose engagement and contributions made this work possible.
This comprehensive report unveils the vision established in the second phase of this initiative, including:
An end-to-end system plan, which includes mass-scale production, green hydrogen transportation and storage, and multi-sectoral end user infrastructure.
A first-of-its-kind study (conducted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), which evaluates potential water use, sources, and infrastructure needed to support a green hydrogen ecosystem, focusing on alternative (recycled or repurposed) sources of water.
Learnings from direct engagement with various community stakeholders, including environmental groups, labor unions, and other stakeholders.
Studies that quantify some of the significant community benefits — including air quality, public health, and job creation — that can be realized from the HyBuild LA vision.
Comprehensive policy and regulatory recommendations that address key barriers to a scaled green hydrogen hub.

Avantus has partnered with UNITE-LA to create the Avantus Cleantech Career Academy, which will build the industry’s workforce and train clean energy leaders of the future.
This program aims to prepare young people in LA County for careers in clean technologies by providing 12 weeks of paid work-based learning, which is then followed by an 8-12 week internship in the clean energy industry.
Avantus is seeking organizations in the GHC community to participate! Areas of engagement can include: supporting learning curriculum, offering site visits or shadowing, and offering internships or jobs.
