HyBuild Los Angeles™, an initiative of the GHC, has created a vision for a low-cost, mass-scale green hydrogen ecosystem that achieves deep decarbonization, eliminates pollution, creates economic opportunity, and advances a just energy transition.
The GHC is pleased to announce the release of HyBuild Los Angeles Phase 2 Report: Architecting the Green Hydrogen Ecosystem Vision For a Deeply Decarbonized LA, and extends its deepest gratitude to all HyBuild LA platform participants, whose engagement and contributions made this work possible.
This comprehensive report unveils the vision established in the second phase of this initiative, including:
An end-to-end system plan, which includes mass-scale production, green hydrogen transportation and storage, and multi-sectoral end user infrastructure.
A first-of-its-kind study (conducted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), which evaluates potential water use, sources, and infrastructure needed to support a green hydrogen ecosystem, focusing on alternative (recycled or repurposed) sources of water.
Learnings from direct engagement with various community stakeholders, including environmental groups, labor unions, and other stakeholders.
Studies that quantify some of the significant community benefits — including air quality, public health, and job creation — that can be realized from the HyBuild LA vision.
Comprehensive policy and regulatory recommendations that address key barriers to a scaled green hydrogen hub.
The GHC has been busy advocating for the value of green hydrogen to support clean, reliable, and affordable energy systems through regulatory and legislative engagement. Check out the most recent Regulatory Filings for details on our progress:
GHC Founder & President Janice Lin will be on the keynote panel, “Scaling Up Hydrogen Deployment & Hubs."
World Hydrogen North America 2023 will bring together over 500 hydrogen professionals across the USA, Canada, and the rest of the world. As promising government incentives are introduced in both the USA and Canada, hydrogen development is set to explode across the region with new projects being announced continuously. Join the discussion in Houston to discover solutions, identify opportunities, and debate how to capitalize on this evolving market.

Avantus has partnered with UNITE-LA to create the Avantus Cleantech Career Academy, which will build the industry’s workforce and train clean energy leaders of the future.
This program aims to prepare young people in LA County for careers in clean technologies by providing 12 weeks of paid work-based learning, which is then followed by an 8-12 week internship in the clean energy industry.
Avantus is seeking organizations in the GHC community to participate! Areas of engagement can include: supporting learning curriculum, offering site visits or shadowing, and offering internships or jobs.
"I am thrilled to share that Amogy has raised $139M in Series B-1 funding! Led by SK Innovation and joined by other global investors including Temasek, Korea Zinc, Aramco Ventures, AP Ventures, MOL PLUS, Yanmar Ventures, Zeon Ventures and DCVC, this funding will enable Amogy to continue our organizational development to support commercialization, begin manufacturing of our innovative ammonia-to-power technology, and bring our first product to market in 2024." Calling all those Functional Safety and I&C Engineers in Green Hydrogen and Electrolysis: Endress+Hauser will be hosting a technical conference on key topics of Safety & Innovation.
Join 15-20 of the leading electrolyzer OEMs and Start-Ups to build a community around increased plant safety through reliable, low maintenance measurement as well as have a voice in our R&D's product road map, to ensure we are developing the right products for the Energy Transition. The event is private with limited seats, please consider applying soon.
"The high cost of producing green hydrogen and the reliance on rare and expensive catalyst materials is unstainable for the industry. This issue is driving energy suppliers, hydrogen developers, and electrolyzer manufacturers to discover lower-cost PGM-based electrocatalysts.
To address this challenge, H2U Technologies and Tokyo Gas will work together to tackle cost and supply chain issues for rare platinum group metal (PGM) electrocatalyst materials.
Under the multi-year joint development agreement, Tokyo Gas will collaborate with H2U’s scientists and utilize H2U’s Catalyst Discovery Engine (CDE™) to develop optimum electrolyzer catalysts." (Jennings & Associates Communications, Inc.)
